SummerSlam 2026 is set to kick off this weekend with CM Punk and Cody Rhodes headlining Night 1 of the two-night Premium Live Event.
Punk heads into the match as the Undisputed WWE Champion following his return and win over Sami Zayn.
Zayn is now competing in a No. 1 Contender match on the same PLE, taking on Finn Balor, with the winner of that bout set to get a title shot against the winner of Punk vs Rhodes.
At present, it is looking more likely that whoever does emerge victorious out of Sami and Finn will be challenging CM Punk for the title at some point down the line.
CM Punk likely to beat Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam
Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select shared a post on their Patreon page ahead of the PLE kicking off, in which they provided an insight into some of the current favourites for SummerSlam.
As per their sources, they say that Punk is most likely to beat Cody, while Roman Reigns is the favourite to walk out with his title in the Night 2 main event against Seth Rollins.
They stated: “After speaking with a source familiar with WWE’s current creative direction, as things stand on Thursday, July 30, we’re told that the favourite to leave SummerSlam with the Undisputed WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship are the current title holders — CM Punk and Roman Reigns.”
The news of Roman probably walking out as champion is unlikely to shock many, given his schedule has now been released for the next few months and he is due to appear at Money In The Bank in October.
WrestleVotes also commented on a few more SummerSlam results, with it looking likely that Oba Femi will beat Brock Lesnar.
They added: “WV Radio is also told that Trick Williams, Oba Femi, Gunther, and Chad Gable are all considered favourites in their respective matchups.”
