Mike Norvell applauds Ousmane Kromah's progression at ACC Kickoff

When running back Ousmane Kromah came to Florida State, he was seen as an early impact player. He ended up third on the team in rushing attempts in 2025 as a freshman and gained 408 yards while averaging 5.7 yards per carry.

As his sophomore campaign approaches, Kromah is viewed as the possible led dog in room with several talented pieces. With that said, Seminoles’ head coach Mike Norvell spoke about Kromah during the first day of the ACC Kickoff event, and mentioned how he’s doing everything he needs to do in order to take his game to the next level.

“Where he is from a conditioning aspect, where he is from a knowledge aspect of the offense and all the things to do, he’s pushing at an elite level with a talented group around him,” Norvell said of Kromah via Noles247.

In 2026, Kromah will be guided by running backs coach Kam Martin. He comes to Tallahassee with a very respected reputation as he’s molded 1,000-yard rushers at each coaching stop he’s had in his career up until this point.

In his short time working with Kromah, Martin has gained an appreciation for the former four-star prospect. So much so that he spoke highly of Kromah back in March when spring practice was taking place.

“He’s taking that next step. He’s taking that next step as a person and as a player,” Martin said. “Every morning, me and him have been watching film at 5:30 in the morning, and I can tell you this: he’s taking that next step to be the guy he wants to be. He wants to be great.

“Every rep that he takes, if he messes up, he owns it and he wants to be the best. I meet with him twice a day, and he’s trying to take that next step. I’m excited to get to work with him.”

It’s clear that Kromah has taken the initiative and put in the work during the offseason, and the results are already showing. He’s down to 216 pounds from 225, which will undoubtedly help with his explosiveness.

With Norvell back calling plays in 2026, FSU will undoubtedly feature their running game quite a bit. The hope is that Kromah continues his progression and be a viable piece in the rushing attack which will help transfer quarterback Ashton Daniels run the offense.
