Detroit Tigers 11, Minnesota Twins 6 (12 inn.): It’s too late to apologize

Now it’s over; play it off.
Had to play a longer night,
Came to show a lot of fight
On a Wednesday
We would rather forget.
Hitting started off weakly,
Staying hitless ‘til we got into
Inning four, ere which the Tigers
Had a pair break through.
Tied it late, but we couldn’t pass ‘em;
By the end, we were spent.

‘Cause when a game is long,
You know the Twins have got to
Bring in more runners,
They needed to do.
‘Cause everything went wrong;
The twelfth should just be blotted,
Couldn’t score runners,
Way too few.

Royce had tied it in the eighth,
A two-run single giving us hope,
But score again? The Twins say “nope.”
Fans have turned around
To walk straight out.
Many LOBsters were cRISPy:
Four for twenty — no, twenty-one,
Situation’s worst, just like they always do.
And it would’ve changed how it ends,
Is it too late to make amends?

‘Cause when a game is long,
You know the Twins have got to
Bring in more runners,
They needed to do.
‘Cause everything went wrong;
The twelfth should just be blotted,
Couldn’t score runners,
Way too few.

Well, I have to pick
Something said — one good Comment:
Let tonight’s be James’s
For excitement on the air!
So now it’s time for restin’,
It’s after twelve on the eastern coast,
And a loss that lingers long
Is aching much the most.
(They were toast, they were toast…)

‘Cause when a game is long,
You know the Twins have got to
Bring in more runners,
They needed to do.
‘Cause everything went wrong;
The twelfth should just be blotted,
Couldn’t score runners,
Not many, too few.

And when a game is long,
You know the Twins have got to
Bring in more runners,
They needed to do.
‘Cause everything went wrong;
The twelfth should just be blotted,
Couldn’t score runners,
Way too few.

and a bonus late-night / early-morning edition of Sister Scorecards!
(no, I don’t know why WordPress trimmed off the bottom edges of both pages)
