Aidan Boehle, a defensive lineman who played last season at Division II Winona State, announced his commitment to Michigan State on Thursday.

Boehle hails from Minnetonka, Minn., and measures in at 6-foot-6. In 11 games over the past two seasons, Boehle recorded six tackles, 21/2 for a loss. Michigan State’s defensive line room was in need of an overhaul after unproductive seasons the past two years ranked the Spartans near the bottom of both the Big Ten and Football Bowl Subdivision in sacks.

Twenty-two sacks in 2025 ranked 86th out of 134 FBS teams. In 2024, 19 sacks ranked 103rd out of 133.Boehle also adds a bit of age to a room full of youth. Eleven out of 18 defensive linemen and edge rushers are redshirt sophomores or younger in NCAA eligibility.

For a position where size and strength may be the most important traits, older depth can be useful, especially in the physical Big Ten.
