LA Lakers GM Rob Pelinka has made several moves to tweak the team’s roster this summer. He might not be done, though, as an online clip shows him having a warm interaction with a three-and-D prospect at the Las Vegas Summer League.

In a video posted on Reddit, Pelinka can be seen embracing Denver Nuggets forward Peyton Watson, who is a restricted free agent this offseason. This is followed by Pelinka and Watson having a conversation, before they dap up and Watson walks away.

Seeing this interaction between Watson and the Lakers executive, fans came to arrive at a certain conclusion.

To date, the Nuggets have yet to come to terms with Watson on a new deal. This past season, Watson played the best basketball of his four-year NBA career, tallying career highs in points (14.6 ppg), rebounds (4.9 rpg), and minutes (29.6 mpg).

If Pelinka does succeed in adding Watson to the Lakers lineup, he’ll join a promising roster that includes new acquisitions Walker Kessler, Collin Sexton, Quentin Grimes, Jaden Hardy, Sandro Mamukelashvili, and Kevon Looney.

With the departure of LeBron James in free agency, the Luka Doncic era in Los Angeles officially begins, with Doncic’s no. 2 scoring option Austin Reaves by his side. Watson could become another shooter that complements Doncic’s playmaking prowess.

5x NBA Champion, Former Coach of the Year Watch Lakers’ Summer League Game vs. Thunder

Lakers recruits such as Sexton, Mamukelashvili and Hardy were in attendance on Friday when their Summer League squad took on the OKC Thunder’s own summer team. Aside from these players, two high-profile NBA personalities were on hand in Las Vegas.

In a clip posted by Clippers beat writer Grant Mona, five-time NBA champion Derek Fisher and former Coach of the Year Scott Brooks were among the spectators of the Lakers-Thunder Summer League game.

Fisher rose to prominence as the Lakers’ court general next to Kobe Bryant, while Brooks (who won Coach of the Year with the Thunder in 2010) has served as an assistant coach with the Lakers since 2024.
