The New York Giants concluded their 2026 preseason schedule with another defensive gem, this time versus their MetLife Stadium co-tenants, the New York Jets.
Neither team bothered to dress most of their key players, leaving the backups and the bubble players to fight it out in the annual “Snoopy Bowl.”
Here’s a look at some studs and duds from Friday’s 23-6 win over the Jets.
Stud: DC Dennard Wilson
The Giants‘ defense has been extremely stingy in this preseason, allowing just 22 points over three games. They held opponents to a 26 percent conversion rate on third downs. Keep in mind, they played the majority of these games without many of their key contributors.
Dud: WR Braxton Berrios
With Calvin Austin III (knee) out for the year, the last wide receiver and returner role was Berrios’ to lose, and he may have just done that. Berrios did not distinguish himself on special teams and lost a fumble in the red zone, costing the Giants a scoring opportunity.
Stud: K Dominic Zvada
May won the kicker competition with a strong showing on Friday night. The rookie hit all three of his field goal attempts, with a long of 53 yards, and made both PATs. This performance put an end to any speculation of who the Giants’ kicker should be.
Dud: QB Brandon Allen
This guy simply can’t drive the team down the field. Allen was 8-of-12 for 78 yards, but it’s clear that Jake Haener has the bigger upside. It might be moot in the end, anyhow, as the Giants may not carry a third quarterback.
Stud: LB Trace Ford
Another standout performance for Ford, who had five total stops, two passes defensed, two QB hits, and a sack. The Giants are loaded at linebacker and could make a move before cutdown day rather than cut one of these players.
Stud: Odell Beckham Jr.
Beckham still can thrill the masses, even though he hasn’t been able to get that highlight reel play on tape as of yet. He caught three of six targets for 53 yards and missed out on a huge play downfield in this game.
Studly Dud: Tyrone Tracy, Jr
A lot of shallow thinkers want to see Tracy get cut. He’s been hit-and-miss so far in the preseason so far, but he’s the Giants’ fastest option out of the backfield. In this game, he averaged 9.3 yards per attempt on four carries and scored a touchdown. He left the game with a neck injury but not before reminding everyone that he’s too good to give up on.
