Kansas State football lands 4-star DB Joshua Vilmael

MANHATTAN — Kansas State football landed the younger brother of one of its true freshman defensive backs, who happens to be a four-star cornerback himself.

Joshua Vilmael announced his commitment to the Wildcats on Monday, June 15, through Rivals reporter Sam Spiegelman. He is the younger brother of Josiah Vilmael, who will suit up for the Wildcats this fall.

The younger Vilmael stands at 6-foot-3 and is 185 pounds. He attends Fort Bend Travis in Richmond, Texas. He chose the Wildcats over North Carolina, Florida State, Arizona, Arizona State and others.

Vilmael is coming off a junior season in which he intercepted a pair of passes and broke up seven. He forced four fumbles and made three tackles for a loss. He had an official visit to the Manhattan campus this weekend, following a visit to North Carolina and Bill Belichick in Chapel Hill.

Vilmael becomes the fourth four-star prospect to commit to Kansas State’s 2027 class, joining Cooper Ohnmacht (ATH), Brayden Harris (OT) and Ben Hynek (TE).
