Matias Soulé is the most likely Roma centerpiece to depart in short order, as his two seasons in the Eternal City have been fine but not strong enough to make him untouchable.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, his agent, Martin Guastadisegno, recently paid a visit to the Trigoria training center to take stock. The winger tallied 12 goals and 13 assists in 81 appearances since joining from Juventus in a €25M move. He was slowed down by a sports hernia in the back-end of the last campaign.

Soulé wouldn’t mind staying, but wouldn’t dig his heels in if Roma took an offer. He’s being targeted in particular by Aston Villa, Bournemouth, and Borussia Dortmund. He’s also generating interest in Turkey. He has a €35/40M valuation, which would lead to a €20M ‘plusvalenza.’ Gian Piero Gasperini favors selling him over Evan N’Dicka or Manu Koné.

In the same role, the Giallorossi are closing in on Paulo Dybala’s renewal. His camp counter-proposed the club’s offer, asking for a little more, but the difference isn’t huge. Moreover, the capital club is intensely tracking Mason Greenwood despite his lofty price tag.

Our Take on Roma and Soulé

He’s been pretty productive, but his last few seasons have pretty much all been the same, as he got off to brilliant starts before eventually wearing down. Gasperini must not be high on his upside or ability to hold up for an entire season if they are dangling him. There would indeed be a logjam if Dybala stayed and they added another top-notch attacker. However, they should tread carefully and only accept major bids to avoid regrets, as the Argentine is only 23 after all.
