Jerry Jeudy denies calling for Deshaun Watson to start for Browns this season after viral video
Despite what it may have looked like on a TikTok live, Jerry Jeudy is not calling for the Cleveland Browns to start Deshaun Watson at quarterback this season.
Jeudy, who is gearing up for his third season with the Browns this fall, appeared to flash the number four when asked by a fan who he thinks should be the team’s starting quarterback this season. Watson, of course, wears that number. The video, however, appears to also be edited.
Despite that fact, it naturally took off on social media. Jeudy responded to a post from ESPN Cleveland on Sunday.

“I don’t speak on decisions that aren’t mine to make,” he wrote in a second post. “I support my teammates/brothers, I do my job, and control what I can control. Let’s stop creating [narratives] that aren’t there for likes and clicks. I bet this won’t go viral because it’s too positive/real for y’all.”
Jeudy had 602 receiving yards and two touchdowns last season with the Browns. They went just 5-12 and bounced between Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders at quarterback. Watson is healthy again after having to undergo two surgeries to repair a ruptured Achilles, which kept him out of the entire 2025 campaign.
Watson signed a five-year, fully guaranteed $230 million deal with the Browns after getting his start with the Houston Texans. Watson hasn’t played a full season since the 2020 campaign, both due to the string of injuries and due to an 11-game suspension he served after he was accused of sexual misconduct during massage sessions by more than two dozen women.
Watson and Sanders are expected to compete for the Browns’ starting job in training camp this fall. While it’s unclear who has the edge in that competition, and no decision has been made yet, Jeudy is not getting involved in that decision. He made that clear, despite what the social media video might look like.
