Indiana men’s basketball’s yearslong pursuit of a center from the high school recruiting pipeline goes on into 2028.

Xavier Young, a center out of Texas in the class of 2028, recently announced via social media that he’d received an official offer from Indiana alongside several other top high-major programs. Other programs interested in Young include Alabama, Georgia, Baylor and Arizona State.

Young attends Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy in Dallas, Texas. He’s rated as a 4-star prospect by 247Sports, ranking in as the 6th highest-rated center, 12th highest rated prospect overall and the No. 1 player in the state of Texas. He’s also rated as a 4-star prospect by On3/Rivals, ranking in as the 5th highest-rated center, 15th highest-rated prospect overall and the No. 3 player in the state of Texas.

Indiana, as a program, has been trying to sign a center from the high school ranks in the past several recruiting cycles. The last true center to sign with the program out of high school was Logan Duncomb in 2021, who committed under Archie Miller before signing under Mike Woodson.
