Roki Sasaki pitched a gem on Friday night, allowing a run on three hits with nine strikeouts over seven innings as Los Angeles picked up a 4-2 victory. Ryan Tucker hit a two-run home run in the eighth to give the Dodgers a 4-1 lead, and Miguel Rojas and Shohei Ohtani delivered sacrifice flies as L.A. bounced back from an early 1-0 deficit.
Soto left the game with left calf soreness in the sixth inning and was scheduled to undergo an MRI on Saturday. The All-Star missed more than two weeks back in April with a strained left calf, and the Mets deployed Soto as the designated hitter in five of their last seven games to reduce the stress on the muscle. Luis Robert Jr. gave New York a 1-0 lead with a second-inning home run and Francisco Alvarez went deep in the eighth.
Right-hander Nolan McLean (7-6) draws the start for New York on Saturday night, coming in with a 3.34 ERA and 1.094 WHIP while striking out 135 in 113.1 innings over 20 starts. Right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto (10-6), coming off a four-hit complete game on Sunday, enters play with a 2.78 ERA and 0.877 WHIP in 18 starts and 119.2 innings for the Dodgers.
