Georgia football battling South Carolina for 4-star OT recruit

Four-star offensive tackle recruit Nate Carson is a top recruiting target for the Georgia Bulldogs in the class of 2027. Carson was previously predicted to commit to Georgia, but the tide appears to be changing. Fisher Brewer of Rivals predicts that Carson will stay home and commit to the South Carolina Gamecocks over Georgia. Brewer’s prediction comes in contrast to his colleague, Steve Wiltfong, who predicts that Carson will commit to Georgia.
The 6-foot-4, 270-pound offensive tackle plays high school for Irmo High School in Columbia, South Carolina. The Irmo star is the No. 184 recruit in the country, the No. 6 player in South Carolina and the No. 24 offensive tackle nationally, per 247Sports.
Carson plans to announce his college commitment on July 3. The talented offensive lineman is also considering Georgia and South Carolina along with the Clemson Tigers, Tennessee Volunteers, Colorado Buffaloes and Texas A&M Aggies. The four-star has gone on recent visits to South Carolina, Georgia, Clemson and Colorado.
At Irmo, Carson played against South Carolina signee and four-star recruit Julian Walker. Carson is an Under Armour All-American. He displays good mobility and athleticism for his size. The Irmo star is capable of making blocks at the second level of the defense. Carson primarily played left tackle during his junior season, but could shift inside to offensive guard in college.
Carson could join Georgia’s recruiting class, which has 17 total commitments including five across the offensive line. Georgia and coach Kirby Smart have the No. 13 recruiting class in the nation.
