Four-star DL Karlos May commits to Ohio State football

Four-star defensive lineman Karlos May announced his commitment to Ohio State on July 18, strengthening the Buckeyes in the trenches in their recruiting class for 2027.
May is the No. 135 prospect and No. 15 defensive lineman in the nation, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. He picked the Buckeyes over Auburn, Florida State and Georgia following a series of official visits to the schools over May and June.
He was the fifth top-150 defensive lineman to commit to Ohio State in this class, joining a decorated group headlined by five-stars Marcus Fakatou and DJ Jacobs, who is the top-ranked edge rusher in the country.
May finished last year with 43 tackles, eight tackles for loss, four sacks and two interceptions at Ramsay High School in Birmingham, Alabama, and is a boost for the Buckeyes’ interior with his 6-foot-3, 305-pound frame. He was also on the track-and-field team and recorded a throw of just over 50 feet in the shot put April.
The addition of May marked continued success for the Buckeyes on the recruiting trail in Alabama.
They signed at least one prospect from Alabama in each of their previous two recruiting classes — defensive lineman Emanuel Ruffin in 2026 and running back Anthony Rogers and defensive lineman Zion Grady in 2025.
