Former Warriors assistant coach lands coaching job with Team USA

Team USA revealed their roster for the 2026 FIBA World Cup qualifiers, with the 2027 FIBA World Cup one year away. Although the roster didn’t include many NBA notables, the coaching staff did include one former Golden State Warriors coach.

After serving as an assistant with the Warriors for the last two seasons, Terry Stotts will coach Team USA during the FIBA World Cup qualifiers. Although Stotts received some consideration for a head coaching job this offseason, he was ultimately passed up on in favor of other candidates. So too was Jerry Stackhouse, who also spent two years as an assistant under Steve Kerr before pursuing a role as an NBA head coach this summer.

Thus far, Golden State filled one of those vacant spots by adding Frank Vogel, a former NBA champion, as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers.
