ESPN is parting ways with Ryan Clark as part of wider expected layoffs. The analyst was informed of the decision as he was on “NFL Live” on Monday. Karl Ravech, who has been with ESPN for the last 33 years, is also expected to be part of the cuts. The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand reports that a small number of on-air personalities at the network and its partner platform NFL Network are anticipated to join the list of those effected. These moves are coming as part of broader reductions at ESPN’s parent company, Disney.

Every time there are cuts, especially to those with recognizable names and brands, there’s great interest. ESPN and NFL Network layoff list
Ryan Clark: Clark joined ESPN in 2015 on the same day he retired from the NFL after 13 seasons. He moved steadily and impressively into larger roles and had the dynamism required to be the focal point of several different shows, ranging from NFL-specific to the morning debate offerings. His personal star shined quite bright in recent years and somewhat regular run-ins with controversy made him a very visible name.
Karl Ravech: A 33-year veteran who has been part of the network’s baseball coverage seemingly forever, is a surprising name to see considering his longevity and work across sports, from studio and play-by-by.
Tom Pelissero: Front Office Sports’ Ryan Glasspiegel reports the NFL Network insider is expected to be one of the cuts today. Pelissero’s remit overlaps a bit with Adam Schefter as a newsbreaker so there was concern with the merger that not everyone would stay on board.
David Lloyd: Venerable SportsCenter anchor is also expected to be on the list of layoffs, per Glasspiegel.
Stephania Bell: Glasspiegel also reports that Bell, the network’s injury expert and fantasy analyst is expected to be out.
