Could Diego Pavia be a realistic option for the Detroit Lions?
Pavia was released by the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday afternoon. The 5-foot-10 quarterback had inked a three-year, $3.1 million contract with Baltimore after going undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft.
As Pavia searches for his next professional step, USA TODAY Sports quickly linked the Lions as a potential Pavia suitor.
USA TODAY Sports’ Nick Brinkerhoff shared why he feels the Lions might make sense:

The Lions do need some insurance in its quarterback room and they could scoop Pavia up for cheap. But, will Pavia’s height scare the Lions off?
USA TODAY Sports listed the Carolina Panthers as another potential option for Pavia. The CFL, UFL and the WWE were also mentioned by USA TODAY Sports as Pavia’s potential next step.
Pavia finished second in the 2025 Heisman Trophy voting. Pavia passed for 10,255 and 88 touchdowns in his college career, including 3,539 and 29 touchdowns during 2025 with Vanderbilt.
