Colorado football adds JUCO safety Drew Molinaro to 2026 roster

Colorado football’s roster for the 2026 season is mostly set, with preseason camp set to begin at the end of July, but Deion Sanders’ staff is still making roster additions.
On Saturday, the Buffs added junior college safety Drew Molinari. Molinari hails from Monterey Peninsula College, where Colorado also added top JUCO defensive tackle Malachi Brown earlier this offseason. The Salinas, California, native announced his decision on social media.
Molinari held offers from six Division I schools, but was a priority target for several FCS schools. At 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, Molinari is a prototypical free safety who should add depth to Colorado’s secondary.
Colorado and Coach Prime continue the trend of targeting overlooked players who have produced at a lower level but want a chance to prove they can perform at a Power Four school. Molinari and Brown, his Monterey Peninsula College teammate, join players like Domata Peko Jr, Sam Gadie, and Donavon Stephens as other JUCO transfers entering the program ahead of the 2026 season.

CU has a deep group of safeties with transfers Boo Carter, Randon Fontenette, Jaydan Hardy, Braylon Edwards, Ben Finneseth and Jah Jah Boyd all competing for snaps. If Molinari sees the field in 2026, it is likely to be on special teams.
