Chase Briscoe finishes near the top in his home state at NASCAR's Brickyard 400
INDIANAPOLIS — As the 2026 Brickyard 400 reached the final laps, Mitchell, Indiana-native Chase Briscoe was firmly in the mix. Briscoe had worked himself all the way up to the No. 4 position; the same place he wound up finishing.
In Briscoe’s third Brickyard appearance, he got his highest finish ever. Previously, he’d finished 18th last year, and 24th in the 2024 season. Ahead of this year’s race, he made it abundantly clear how much it means to compete at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
“This is the one race I want to win more than any other,” said Briscoe. “What makes Indy to me so special, is all my family being here; friends and family, and fans.”
“You could take every win I’ve ever had in my career away if I could just have one Brickyard 400 win.”

During the inaugural NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2020, Briscoe was able to win the Pennzoil 150 on the road course at IMS. The difference? His victory took place during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, meaning the stands were near empty.
As the NASCAR Cup Series reaches a key part of the season, Briscoe and his team are surging at the right time. After Sunday’s race, he earned a pivotal 36 points in the Cup’s standings.
Briscoe may not have reached the position he had hoped for, but an impressive final stage put him amongst the race’s top finishers. His 2026 finish was his highest in his Brickyard racing history, but the 31 year-old expects more appearances in his future, and his goal remains the same; a Brickyard victory in front of family and friends.
“It would be the highlight of my career for sure.”
