Formula 1 heads to Barcelona this weekend (June 12-14) for the first of two races in Spain this season, the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix.
Mercedes youngster Kimi Antonelli arrives in the Spanish city with his eyes set on securing a sixth consecutive win, having claimed a dominant victory last weekend in Monte Carlo to become the youngest winner in the history of the Monaco Grand Prix.
With five wins out of six races under his belt, the 19-year-old Italian leads the world championship by 66 points over second-place Lewis Hamilton of Ferrari, who climbed from fourth in the standings after securing a P2 finish in the Principality.
George Russell, who was the championship favorite at the beginning of the season, slipped from second to third place after failing to score points for the second race in a row.

F1 Standings 2026 After The Monaco Grand Prix
Heading to Barcelona, Antonelli is looking to continue his dominance and inch closer to his maiden title which would make him the youngest F1 champion in history – a record currently held by Sebastian Vettel, who won his first title at the age of 23 years and 133 days.
Meanwhile, Russell knows he must get back to winning ways and cut down the 68-point deficit if he wishes to keep his championship hopes alive. The Englishman kicked off his 2026 campaign strong with a victory in the season opener in Melbourne but has been struggling to match the pace of his Mercedes teammate since.
Hamilton will also be on the hunt for his first grand prix win in Ferrari red after finishing second in the last two races, while teammate Charles Leclerc, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Lando Norris of McLaren all aim to bounce back after suffering DNFs in Monaco.
Circuit de Catalunya plays host to the renamed Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, with the Madring circuit in Madrid taking over as the venue for the Spanish Grand Prix starting from this year.
