The Pittsburgh Pirates dropped two of three to the Los Angeles Dodgers, which was frustrating for the team.

Pittsburgh went 1-5 in its six-game set against the Atlanta Braves and Dodgers, who are the two best teams in baseball. Although the record in those six games was disappointing, Brandon Lowe believes there are positives to be taken away but also lessons to be learned.

“The record doesn’t reflect how good I think we’ve played in certain scenarios,” Lowe said postgame on Thursday, via DKPittsburghSports. “Obviously, the Dodgers are a legit team and our offense put up some pretty good numbers off of them, but it just kind of goes to show that you watch their at-bats and how they go about the game, you watch the way they pitch, the way their bullpen goes, the way they play defense, and you hope guys in here just learn.

“Obviously, they’re tops in the league for a reason and obviously the score didn’t go the way that we wanted it to, but there’s still a bunch of things to learn and a lot of baseball left.”

After going 1-5, the Pirates fell to 35-34 on the season and are a game back of a Wild Card spot, so Pittsburgh is still firmly in playoff position.

The Pirates will begin a three-game series against the Miami Marlins on Friday.
