Angels Fans Put More Pressure on Arte Moreno to Sell the Team

Los Angeles Angels fans are continuing their push against owner Arte Moreno this season.
On Sunday, a banner flew across the air of Dodger Stadium with a simple message for the Halos’ long-time owner: “ARTE MORENO — SELL THE TEAM!!!”

The Angels were at Dodger Stadium for the series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Once again, the Dodgers swept the Angels to mark the second time this season the Halos have lost all three games against their crosstown rivals.
Fans Have Been Protesting All Season Long
The protests started with Angels fans participating in the “Tarps off” trend, where shirtless fans gather in the stands and chant for their team. In the Angels fans’ version of this trend, these chants are demanding Moreno to sell the team.

Then, Angels fans gathered at the State College Boulevard stadium entrance on May 24 to continue protesting against Moreno. The organizer of the protest, Johnny Gonzalez, said the protest was just the beginning of fans’ demands for change.
“This is the first time something like this has happened in Angels fan history,” Gonzalez said, per the California Post. “We’ve reached a boiling point, and you can see it. I’m just happy all the fans are here to support each other, make a message, and stand up for what’s right.”
“We’re not gonna stop,” Gonzalez added. “We’re having too much fun across the street for the Anaheim Ducks, and we want the same energy over here.”
The Angels have yet to address these fans’ demands, and Moreno does not seem to be in the process of selling the team. But Halos fans are not planning to give up any time soon.
