According to ESPN’s NFL league insider Adam Schefter, the Denver Broncos and head coach Sean Payton have reached an agreement on a new five-year contract. He had two years left on his previous deal, but this new five-year deal will replace that and he is now signed through the 2030 season.

The Broncos have now signed both head coach Sean Payton and general manager George Paton to new five-year deals this offseason, and both are signed through the 2030 season. The two have formed a great working relationship since Payton was acquired/hired back in 2023 and have turned the Broncos franchise from a joke to a legitimate Super Bowl contender in three seasons. Now, the two are joined at the hip for these next five seasons and will look to get the Broncos back to the Super Bowl and bring the Lombardi Trophy back to Denver.

Denver Broncos Owner and CEO Greg Penner issued a statement announcing Sean Payton’s new five-year deal with the team.

“Sean Payton has led an impressive turnaround over the past three seasons, instilling a winning culture with high expectations. I appreciate the close partnership he shares with George Paton along with the alignment and stability across our football operations. We’re thrilled for Sean to continue leading our team as head coach, building on our progress during such an exciting time for the Broncos.”

This is a well-deserved deal for Sean Payton, who completely turned around the Denver Broncos franchise. He took over a Broncos franchise that was viewed as a laughing stock around the league and was coming off the disaster that was the Russell Wilson trade. The team had holes all over the roster, did not have a quarterback, lacked a winning culture, and, frankly, needed a lot of help.

His first year, he had the Broncos back in the postseason conversation; in year two, he had them back in the playoffs; and in year three, they made it to the AFC Championship Game and were a Bo Nix ankle away from reaching and potentially winning the Super Bowl. Oh yeah, he also finally solved the Broncos quarterback problem by handpicking Bo Nix to be his franchise quarterback. More importantly, he fixed the culture issue that the Broncos had before he was hired. They turned into a losing franchise on and off the field. Payton brought in the players, coaches, and personalities needed to fix that, and now, the Broncos are back to being a winning franchise and have a tight locker room that is all about winning football.

Yeah, Payton may not be for everyone, and he speaks his mind at times, but you cannot deny that he’s a damn good football coach and one that has brought the Denver Broncos franchise back to where it belongs.

The Broncos are in good hands and will continue to be one of the top franchises in the NFL moving forward, in large part to Sean Payton. Well-deserved and earned new contract for Coach Sean Payton and I am excited to see what the future has in store for the Broncos.
