North DeSoto's Tim Whitman headlines LSWA Class 4A All-State teams

North DeSoto softball coach Tim Whitman is putting together a Hall of Fame-caliber career, but he prefers to defer his teams’ successes to other people.
After his Lady Griffins won the 10th LHSAA title for the veteran last month with a 1-0 victory over Brusly, Whitman had this to say:
“I know this is cliché, but I really don’t think about it. I really get more enjoyment out of seeing the kids’ faces and being a part of it with them. I guess one day I will look back at it, but for now, it’s about their reward for the hard work they put into it.”
Whitman won three state titles at Pineville (1996, 1997, 1998) and two at Ouachita Parish (2014, 2018). At North DeSoto he has championship rings from 2021, 2022, 2023, 2025 and 2026. He was joined on the LSWA team by players Carsyn Curtis, Macie Cameron and Leighton Ross.
Because of the 2026 title, Whitman was named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Softball Coach of the Year for Class 4A.
Vandebilt Catholic swept the MVP awards for baseball and softball with sophomore Corey Bourgeois capturing the baseball recognition while Lauren Baudoin took the softball MVP honor
Bourgeois hit .547 with four home runs, 43 RBIs, three runs scored and 14 stolen bases. He was 6-3 on the mound with a 2.60 ERA, 45 strikeouts and a .229 opponent batting average.
Bourgeois helped Vandebilt to a Division II Select state championship series appearance opposite St. Charles Catholic, which won the series with a 6-5 win in the third game of the best-of-three championship series.
Baudoin, a Nicholls State signee, directed her team to the Select Division II title by going 20-1 with 172 strikeouts and a 1.28 ERA. She hit .402 with six home runs and didn’t allow a run in the state tournament.
St. Charles coach Wayne Stein was named Class 4A Baseball Coach of the year after coaching the St. Charles football and baseball teams to state titles in the same year for the third time in five seasons.
