Cherie DeVaux and Golden Tempo sat out the Preakness Stakes.
They’re back for the Belmont Stakes, trying to win a second Triple Crown race in 2026 after taking the Kentucky Derby.
DeVaux made history with the Derby, becoming the first female trainer to ever win a race there.
Now, she’s got the chance to double down at the Belmont.
Who is the Belmont Stakes female trainer?
That’s Cherie DeVaux, who already got a Kentucky Derby win as the trainer of Golden Tempo earlier this year.
She had never had a horse in the Derby until that one.
“I don’t really look at it as male versus female,” DeVaux told LEX18. “I just try to do the best I can, but in the back of my mind, just to be a strong role model.”
She provided some awesome advice before winning the Derby.
“Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there,” DeVaux told LEX18. “You have to be willing to fail to be able to succeed.”
DeVaux has put in the work. Now it’s up to Golden Tempo to try and run another winning race.
