Jackson thrower Abby LaPole finishes career with third state title

COLUMBUS — Abby LaPole’s great run as a high school thrower ended in style.

The Jackson senior won her third straight girls seated shot put state title on June 5 at the OHSAA Track and Field Championships. LaPole’s top throw of 21 feet, 7.5 inches came on her final attempt.

Jackson’s Abby LaPole set a state meet record with this throw in the seated shot put during the state track and field championships, June 6, 2025, in Columbus.

LaPole leaves high school with three state titles and an all-time Stark County record that may stand for a long time. Her top throw of 23-5.75 occurred this season.

Perry’s Ahsha DiPietro finished third with a top throw of 13-2.75.
