Blue Jays cut pitcher with 0.00 ERA in bullpen shakeup

The Blue Jays needed a 40-man roster spot in order to bring up Chad Dallas, a rookie starting pitcher who’s been on the bubble for a roster spot for more than a week.
Dallas, who’s been stretched out as a starter at Triple-A Buffalo, gives the Blue Jays a multi-inning option out of the bullpen for their game against the Atlanta Braves.
In a corresponding roster move, a pitcher with a 0.00 ERA drew the short end of the straw. Right-hander Tanner Andrews was designated for assignment, and Hayden Juenger was optioned to Triple-A.

Juenger, 25, had allowed three runs across two innings in his first two MLB games for Toronto. Andrews had been quietly outstanding in his two appearances, allowing only one hit and two walks in three shutout innings.
The 30-year-old right-hander pitched 152 minor league games across the last eight seasons before getting his first big league promotion in May. Now, through little fault of his own, he’s off the Blue Jays’ major league roster.
Andrews was 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA in 17 appearances with the Buffalo Bisons, and is available be picked up on waivers.

Dallas, 25, was 0-3 with a 4.50 ERA in 10 games (eight starts) with the Bisons. He’s expected to be the Blue Jays’ long man in relief of opener Mason Fluharty in Atlanta.
