White Sox Fan Loses Everything from Her Purse After Picking Up Walk-Off Home Run Ball in Viral Video

One Chicago White Sox fan scored a big win, while almost losing everything.
Emma Rodriguez, 24, was at the White Sox game against the New York Mets at Rate Field on Aug. 21, when she caught the ball from catcher Jake Rogers’ walk-off home run — his first as an MLB player.
After the ball landed near Rodriguez, she excitedly picked it up when a White Sox staffer pointed it out. Immediately, she began to jump for joy, but everything in her open purse flew out. In the now-viral video, Rodriguez has her arm in the air with her purse on her shoulder, and she continually jumps, making everything from loose change and bills to her lip gloss and wallet fall to the floor.

“It’s a Coach purse, if Coach wants to send me another one that zips up and doesn’t open when I jump up and down,” she jokingly told MLB.com. “I think I got at least 10 texts immediately just before the game even totally ended, and before I walked out of the stadium.”
“She was going nuts, which I think a lot of guys were,” Rogers told MLB.com of the viral moment. “Such a cool moment last night. It was my first walk-off in The Show. It was a special moment.”
Despite the chaotic moment, Rodriguez got everything back after she reached out to Rogers, 31. She asked if he would sign the baseball, but the MLB star asked to trade for it because of its significance in his career. Rodriguez also took home a signed bat, signed ball and signed jersey from Rogers.

“He wrote me a little note on [the ball],” she said during an interview published on the White Sox Instagram account, adding that she is “grateful” to the public for their concern about her items.
Rodriguez also returned to Rate Field on Sunday, Aug. 23, to see her beloved White Sox beat the Mets again, 2-1.
