What Maxx Crosby said about Caleb Williams as Chicago Bears trade talk sparked back into life
Maxx Crosby’s future with the Las Vegas Raiders is still up in the air as talk of a trade to the Chicago Bears has once again been mooted.
It has been an offseason like no other for Crosby, who did look set to join the Baltimore Ravens before failing his medical in Maryland.
The 28-year-old has since returned to Vegas and is gearing up to start the season under new head coach Klint Kubiak.
There is a lot of uncertainty in Vegas given just how much has changed since their final game of the 2025 season.
NFL insider Adam Schefter has mooted a potential move for Crosby if the Raiders do not make an encouraging start to the season prior to the trade deadline.
The Bears are one of the interested teams in which Schefter was responding to with his answer, which only highlights some of the recent comments from Crosby on the third-year quarterback Caleb Williams.
What Adam Schefter said about Maxx Crosby to the Chicago Bears
Crosby has admitted he’s happy in Vegas, but he will also want to be playing on a team that is winning games of football.
The Raiders will be hopeful of an improved season following their 3-14 record last year.
However, Crosby is regarded as one of the best defensive ends in the entire NFL, yet he is not competing in the post-season as a Raider.
“I do think right now Maxx Crosby is in Vegas. I think that that’s their plan right now. But here’s where I think it gets interesting…What if the Raiders are not winning regularly and we’re coming up to the trade deadline in the first week of November… I think as the trade deadline gets closer, that’s when we could start hearing Maxx Crosby’s name again,” Schefter said
“I think that’s when it might be time to start paying attention. Maybe I’m going to be surprised and they trade in the summer, but that’s not what I’m expecting. It’s not what I’m hearing. I think it changes if and when the season starts to go south.”

Over the years, Crosby has made no secret of wanting to make every quarterback’s life misery when he lines up opposite to them.
Williams is no different, with Crosby even securing a pick against the Bears’ QB back in their Week Four meeting last season.
However, make no mistake about it, there is a lot of respect from Crosby towards Williams.
“Just to be open and honest, bro, like we talked about earlier, but respect at a different level, bro. You’re one of those guys for sure and you’re just getting started,” Crosby said to Williams during an episode of The Rush podcast.
“I don’t even know you understand yet how good you can be and that’s the scariest part. You know what I mean? Just keep that mindset, keep doing what you’re doing and you know we’re locked in forever. So keep doing your thing, bro. You need me, hit me at any time. It goes vice versa.”
Clearly, this is a quarterback who Crosby would have no issues in trusting if he was on the same team.
The same cannot exactly be said for his current situation in Vegas, which does threaten to see the Raiders struggle in their opening games.
Kirk Cousins has been given the nod ahead of rookie Fernando Mendoza, with insiders clearly feeling that the Raiders require a strong start to keep hold of their star defensive player.
A move to Illinois may be something Crosby would consider given his respect for their current QB.
