Coming off five straight full-pads practices separated by one off-day, the New England Patriots will turn down the intensity on Wednesday. Their 10th practice of training camp will be taking pace at a walkthrough pace.

Here’s what you need to know about the session.

Schedule

Unlike Tuesday’s practice, Wednesday’s walkthrough will be closed to the public. The next opportunities to visit Patriots training camp will come Thursday and Friday.

  • 10 a.m. ET: Practice (walkthrough)
  • ca. 12:15 p.m. ET: Player availability (QB Drake Maye, FB Reggie Gilliam, WR Mack Hollins, OT Morgan Moses, LG Alijah Vera-Tucker, P Bryce Baringer)

As always, the schedule is tentative and subject to change. For more information, please visit our Pats Pulpit Training Camp Guide.

Story of the day

What is the depth chart looking like? Due to the walkthrough nature of practice, there will be little competition in Foxborough on Wednesday. That does not mean we won’t get a glimpse at those competitions, though: players do line up in order of their supposed position on the current depth chart, and somebody playing regularly with the starters or the third-stringers is indicative of their chances of making the roster.

Injuries to monitor

NFI: S Brenden Schooler

PUP: TE C.J. Dippre, ED Harold Landry III

Practice absentees: FB Reggie Gilliam, WR Cameron Dorner (new), TE Jack Westover (new), OL Caedan Wallace, CB Carlton Davis III

The Patriots added two more players to their absentees list on Tuesday, with wideout Cameron Dorner and tight end Jack Westover missing the session. Whether or not their non-participation is due to injury is not known at this point, but the team added another depth receiver — Tejhaun Palmer — as a waiver claim after practice.

Players to watch

WR Kyle Williams and WR Efton Chism III: Williams and Chism have repped as the sixth and seventh receivers on the roster fairly consistently over the first nine practices. Wednesday will therefore provide as a chance to see whether or not anything has changed, especially with Williams having spent Monday’s session as a spectator.

LB K.J.Britt and LB Khalil Jacobs: With Chad Muma seemingly starting to separate himself in the race for the third linebacker spot, veteran free agent Britt and undrafted rookie Jacobs might be dueling it out for the fourth and possibly final job. The latter’s trajectory has been encouraging this camp, and seems to have overtaken his more experienced teammate on the depth chart.

The backup cornerbacks: The backups options at cornerback are mentioned here for a second straight day, and for good reason. The competition for a fifth and sixth spot on the depth chart seemingly remains wide open. Inconsistency is the main reason for that, with Karon Prunty, Kindle Vildor, Kobee Minor, Channing Canada and Marcellas Dial Jr. all having their ups and downs so far this summer.
