Some pitchers scratch and claw their way to the major leagues.
Some, like Boston Red Sox phenom Anthony Eyanson, blast their way through the minor leagues to prove they belong in MLB.
Eyanson has been utterly dominant this season at Double-A Portland, and that continued on Saturday.
He threw five one-hit innings and struck out eight, putting hitters away with no problem all day long:

A 1.56 ERA on the season is just the start of the story for Eyanson, who strikes out more than a batter per inning and was even more dominant (0.44 ERA) in High-A Greenville before being moved up to Portland.
The 21-year old was a third-round pick in the 2025 MLB Draft out of LSU and has quickly proven he might’ve been even better than his draft stock.
At 6-foot-2 and 208 pounds, Eyanson has the kind of body that can last as a starting pitcher long-term, too.
He began his college career with two seasons at UC San Diego, then looked good on the Cape before transferring to LSU for one season.
The Red Sox liked what they saw, and so far, Eyanson is proving their judgment right.
