Paramount releases UFC 329 viewership: Conor McGregor's return draws eyeballs

The numbers are out for Conor McGregor’s combat sports return.
UFC 329 took place Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The event, headlined by McGregor vs. Max Holloway 2, streamed on Paramount+.
On Thursday, Paramount released the streaming metrics. According to Nielsen live streaming analysis, 15.9 million viewers tuned in for the event, peaking at 8.3 million concurrent streams, in the U.S. and Latin America. The concurrent stream number slots only behind Super Bowl LVII in Paramount+ history. An average of 6.1 million viewers per minute watched the main card.
While the concurrent stream number was historic for Paramount+, the total viewership of McGregor’s return event was slightly less than UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House, which pulled approximately 17 million total viewers. However, that event peaked at 7.9 million concurrent streams.
Had the main event lasted longer than 69 seconds, ending due to an injury with McGregor, it’s conceivable both numbers would’ve been even higher. The main card ended at approximately 11:40 p.m. E.T., competing with the Argentina vs. Switzerland World Cup match, which ended at approximately 11:45 p.m. ET.
In its first year of its Paramount era, the UFC is responsible for six of the top 10 highest peak concurrents in Paramount+ history.
