Top Arizona prospect signs with Texas A&M after going undrafted

With the 2026 MLB Draft officially in the books, Texas A&M’s coaching staff can finally exhale and begin locking in the roster that will carry them into the upcoming season. The Aggies weren’t immune to draft losses—two of their premier 2026 commits, Trey Ebel and Conner Comeau, were selected early and are expected to sign professional contracts. Their departures sting, but the post‑draft picture isn’t all bad news.

A&M received a key confirmation from INF/P CJ Sampson, who will honor his commitment and join the program. Even more encouraging, the Aggies secured one of the most explosive talents in the 2026 class. Ryan Harwood, a top‑50 national prospect and one of the crown jewels of Arizona’s prep ranks.

Harwood enters College Station with elite credentials. Perfect Game lists him as the No. 1 overall player in Arizona and a top‑10 outfielder nationally, a combination of size, athleticism, and raw power that makes him one of the most projectable players in the class. At 6’3″ and 205 pounds, he already looks the part of a future middle‑of‑the‑order bat, and his athleticism gives him legitimate two‑way upside.

MLB.com ranked Harwood as the No. 224 overall draft prospect, and he recently showcased his tools at the 2026 MLB Draft Combine, further solidifying his status as a high‑ceiling addition to the Aggies’ future core.

Below is the announcement confirming his commitment.
