Bremen sign Austria keeper Schlager from Salzburg

Werder Bremen have signed Austria goalkeeper Alexander Schlager from Red Bull Salzburg, the Bundesliga club said in a statement on Friday.
“We are pleased that we have been able to bring in Alexander as another strong keeper for us. We are convinced that he will fit into our team very well both in sporting terms and in terms of character,” said Peter Niemeyer, Werder’s head of professional football.
“That means we are going into the season with a very strong goalkeeper group that will keep challenging each other. That was our aim in our thinking for this position.”
Schlager has made 30 appearances for Austria, most recently at the World Cup in the US where he was ever present.
He will compete at Bremen with keepers Karl Hein, Markus Kolke and Stefan Smarkalev.
