Marcus Freeman answers how long he wants to stay at Notre Dame

This past offseason saw rumors of multiple NFL teams wanting to poach Marcus Freeman away from Notre Dame football, but he’s be back for this year.
If he has it his way, he’ll never leave.
On the “Not Just Football” podcast hosted by current star Pittsburgh Steeler Cam Hayward and Hayden Walsh the subject of leaving for the NFL came up. Freeman wasn’t directly asked about his future in South Bend by them, but he did say that he needed the hear those things to reaffirm his commitment to the Irish.
“We (Freeman’s family) are right where we need to be. Happy, and really fulfilled, in the position that I hold. As I think about my future, man, the only way I think about it, I want to retire from here.” Hopefully his statement puts to rest the overtures from NFL franchises, but that may not be the case.
Freeman is one of the best coaches at any level, and if he wins a few championships there is a possibility that he’d want another challenge. It would have to be the perfect situation for him to leave, but I feel as if the door isn’t completely shut.
We’ve seen plenty of other coaches say the same thing, but not many have the integrity that Freeman possesses. Let’s hope that I’m wrong and he’s becomes a Notre Dame coaching legend along the likes of Knute Rockne, Frank Leahy, Ara Parseghian and Lou Holtz.
