Nets' Egor Demin discusses preparation for summer league play

NEW YORK — Brooklyn Nets guard Egor Demin is coming off a solid rookie season as he dazzled fans with his long-range shooting and potential to be the special passer that he was projected to be with the ball in his hands. Brooklyn will be entering summer league in just a few days and with Demin playing, he detailed how he has prepared for his second season.

“Obviously, getting healthy and making sure I’m doing great with that, and then the lifting room was probably the biggest priority since I could do it anytime,” Demin said to the media after Wednesday’s summer league practice. Demin will likely show how he has improved his game as the primary ball-handler given that he’s already shown that he can shoot the three-pointer at an elite level.

“The summer has been awesome. My summer started a little earlier, obviously, and I believe I took advantage of it as much as everybody on the whole team around me,” Demin said when asked how his summer has been going thus far. “They [Brooklyn’s medical team] were helping me to get as much as I can out of the free time we can call it like this from the games, and then starting the summer a little earlier. I think we did a good job altogether.”

Demin, 20, is coming a 2025-26 season in which he averaged 10.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 39.9% from the field and 38.5% from behind the three-point line. Demin played in just 52 games last season as his season was prematurely ended in March due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot that required him to miss the remainder of the year. However, he doesn’t seem too worried about the condition at this time.

“I’m doing good and that’s all I worry about,” Demin said when asked about his plantar fascia and if there was anything he had to do to manage the condition. Short response aside, Demin appeared and sound confident in his ability to play the way that he needs to and with the Nets adding more talent to the team this offseason, he will be relied on to show how much he has improved from this past season.
