The New York Knicks are fresh off an improbable NBA Finals victory (they trailed by 10 or more points in five consecutive games vs. the San Antonio Spurs) and are hoping to build on their championship by keeping most of their roster intact.

According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, that might not be a realistic option, as he believes that the Los Angeles Lakers could offer the Knicks’ fan favorite rebounding star and NBA champion center that New York may not be able to match.

“I would say if the Lakers put an offer in that $13-15 million range, it would be hard for New York to match something like that,” Marks said, per an article written by Forbes’ Adam Zagoria.

Robinson’s 8.8 rebounds per game during the regular season were impressive, but his insane advanced rebounding metrics (17.9 per 40 minutes) show just how dominant the former second-round pick is on the offensive and defensive boards.

It also helps that Robinson maximizes his pick-and-roll opportunities when on the hardwood. That said, there’s no question that the 28-year-old’s bread and butter is his ability to serve as an aggressive ball hawk on both ends of the floor.

Although the Lakers may want to add a center who’s a bit more skilled offensively (for example, someone who can stretch the floor and be a high-level low-post contributor), Robinson should certainly appeal to the 17-time NBA champions this summer.
