Vote for Ames Tribune female Athlete of the Week for June 14-20

The week of June 14-20 saw high school softball take center stage in the Ames area.
Ames split with Class 5A No. 14 Des Moines Roosevelt on June 15 and swept Des Moines Lincoln on June 18. Ballard won a 4-3 Raccoon River Conference battle over Gilbert; Roland-Story hosted the Kiwanis Invitational, and Collins-Maxwell put up a good fight against 1A No. 1 Clarksville before falling by a 10-7 score on June 15.
There were several outstanding individual performances from high school softball players from the Ames area during the week.
Here are the Ames Tribune female Athlete of the Week nominees for the week of June 14-20. AmesTrib.com readers vote to determine the winner, who will be announced at the end of the week.
Katie Sniezek, Gilbert
Sniezek did a tremendous job driving in runs for the Gilbert softball team during a 9-1 victory over Nevada on June 16 at Gilbert.
Sniezek went 2-for-3 with a double during the game. She finished the night with five RBIs.
Chloe Thompson, Ames
Thompson came up clutch as a pinch hitter for the Ames softball team during its 3-2 win over 5A No. 14 Des Moines Roosevelt as part of a doubleheader on June 15 at Ames.
Thompson went 2-for-3 during the game. She also picked up two timely RBIs to help the Little Cyclones pull off the victory.
Haylee Merryman, Collins-Maxwell
Merryman had a productive couple of games for the Collins-Maxwell softball team against 1A No. 1 Clarksville and Janesville during the week.
Merryman went 1-for-3 with an RBI in a 10-7 loss at Clarksville on June 15. She was 1-for-2 with a steal, three runs and three RBIs apiece during a 16-1 win over Janesville on June 17 at Collins.
Cece Doyle, Roland-Story
Doyle anchored an explosive Roland-Story offense during a 15-6 victory over Nevada on June 15 at Nevada.
Doyle went 2-for-4 with a triple during the game. She scored one run and picked up four RBIs for the Norse.
Olivia Clausen, Nevada
Clausen came up with a big hit in a losing effort for the Nevada softball team during its 15-6 loss to Roland-Story on June 15 at Nevada.
Claussen was 1-for-2 with a double and a walk. She drove in half the Cubs’ runs, finishing the night with three RBIs.
