Scotland manager Steve Clarke says he is “pretty sure the boys are ready” as his side prepare to face-off against Morocco.

The Tartan Army face off against 2022 semi-finalists Morocco in their second group stage match of the tournament after defeating Haiti 1-0 in their first World Cup match since 1998.

The 62-year-old is adamant the encouraging work from his side on the training pitch can be translated into a match day scenario.

“I’ve seen teams where they train the day before a game and you think they are miles off it, but then they turn up and they are fantastic.

“Other times they can be great in training and forget to turn up in games. I don’t read too much into that. I’m pretty sure the boys are ready.”

Clarke also praised the leadership of captain Andy Robertson, with the Tottenham full back an ever-present in his side since becoming national team manager.

“How long have you got? Andy and I have been together a long time now.

“He’s grown into the job, he’s a proper leader. The players all respect him for what he does on and off the pitch. He drives standards.

“If the young players look at what Andy does, we’ll be in a good place moving forwards.”
