For many of us wrestling fans, AJ Styles is one of the best to ever step foot inside a ring.

A glittering career across New Japan, TNA and then WWE has seen Styles inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame after he retired earlier in 2026.

With an eye on the future, it is no surprise to see Styles’ own family now making their way into the world of wrestling.

This weekend, his second son, Avery, did just that as he made his pro wrestling debut for the Squared Circle Action promotion down in Georgia.

And after seeing young Avery shine, Styles himself has come out to praise his son.

AJ Styles says what was so impressive about his son’s pro wrestling debut

Just the sheer thought of trying to follow in Styles’ footsteps is enough to put a huge amount of pressure on anyone.

But being his son, Avery will have known full well there was plenty of the wrestling world watching on.

But for Styles, the proof was in the pudding with his son’s performance.

“It was a big day. Avery, my second oldest, had his first match, his debut match. It got to be so big that it went from being semi-main event to the main event of the show. I don’t think they disappointed anyone whatsoever. Ashton Martin, Avery Styles, it was a main event,” Styles commented on his podcast.

“Listen, I’ve never been so impressed with two young guys. I think Ashton’s maybe a year, year and a half in. Then of course, this is Avery’s debut match. There’s a lot of things that we do with all this energy when we have that young energy that we use it in the wrong way. They used it really, really well. They didn’t rush through anything. They took their time on things they should have. Listen, it’s not going to be perfect, but this is a debut match for Avery and Ashton hadn’t had that many matches.

“So to see them do so well in a main event, both of them, I was blown away. If you would have seen my first match, terrible. Terrible. But these guys did really, really well. I am so impressed with everything they’ve done, their training and everything. To see them put together that match and execute it so well, blown away. He’s better than me as far as his debut. For him to pull off a springboard off the guardrail, little things like that, the timing, beautiful.”

Quite whether Avery will make it as far as his Dad in the wrestling game, remains to be seen.

But the early signs are there and the ‘Phenomenal forearm’ young Avery hit off the barrier midway through the match was a highlight moment.

He is certainly one to watch and keep an eye on and don’t be surprised at all to see him rock up in NXT at some point down the line.
