Which high school football teams own the longest winning streaks entering 2026?
Building a high school football that consistently wins is known to be an uphill climb.
With the never-ending carousel of graduations, schools adding on, being rebuilt, redistricting moving players from one school to another and the other countless other factors that can go against any school anywhere, remaining a constant winner over multiple seasons is nearly impossible in today’s modern game.
However, there are some schools from around the nation that have figured out what it takes to consistently win. There are some that haven’t experienced a loss since the early 2020’s.
With that in mind, here are the 10 longest winning streaks entering the 2026 season.
1. Garden City (NY) – 66 wins
The Trojans have run Long Island’s high school football scene for well over a decade now. Dating back to 2016, they’ve only lost two games, both coming in 2019. Since that lost loss in 2019, they’ve rattled off 66 straight wins and five straight Class II championships. During the current streak, the Trojans have won by an average of 33 points, posted 25 shut outs, have only had six games decided by single digits and have not allowed more than 90 total points in a season.
2. Sheridan (WY) – 55 wins
On September 24, 2021, the Broncs traveled to the East Thunderbirds and suffered a 24-21 loss. That’s the last time they’ve seen themselves in the loss column as they finished that season winning the last seven games and have gone unbeaten each of the last four seasons. They’ve won the last five Class 4A state championships in Wyoming’s largest class.
3. Carl Albert (OK) – 53 wins
The Titans started off their 2022 campaign going 1-2 in their first three games. They rebounded winning their next 11 games and starting off a dynasty that has seen them winning four straight Class 5A championships. Entering the new season, they’re just five more wins away from tying Bixby’s state record of 58 consecutive wins that was set between the 2018-22 seasons.
4. Royal (WA) – 48 wins
Washington’s premier program when it comes to winning state championships, the Knights have ruled the state’s WIAA Class 1A division. A seven-point loss to Lynden Christian on September 24, 2022, is the only loss separating them from being unbeaten since 2020. Prior to that, their last loss came at the end of the 2018 season.
5. Minneota (MN) – 45 wins
The 2022 season saw the Vikings win the first of what has now been four straight state championships. It was also the last time during this run that they did not end up in the win column. Their loss came on the road at Dawson-Boyd on October 19, 2022, by a score of 22-20.
6. Lincoln Christian (OK) – 42 wins
After going unbeaten in 2019 for the program’s second state title, the Bulldogs found their footing during the 2023 season as they once again finished the year 14-0. That trend would continue over the next two seasons as they won three consecutive OSSAA Class 3A state championships, finishing each season 14-0. Their last loss came to Metro Christian at the end of the 2022 season.
7. Christian Brothers Academy (NY) – 41 wins
The Brothers finished off the 2022 season suffering a 34-20 loss to Cicero-North Syracuse. They’ve since rattled off three straight unbeaten championship seasons, winning their 41 games during that stretch by an average of 33 points.
T8. St. Michael’s (NM) – 33 wins
In 2023, the Horsemen suffered losses in two of the three games they played between September 8 and October 1. They’ve turned things around not only winning three straight state championships, but two of those championship runs including unbeaten seasons in 2024 and 2025.
T8. Star Valley (WY) – 33 wins
The premier program in Wyoming’s Class 3A scene, you have to go all the way back to the third game of the 2023 season to find a loss on the Braves’ schedule. They lost that game to Sugar-Salem 31-14 and have not been on the wrong end of that sort of result since, including back-to-back one-score wins over Sugar Salem.
T10. Grimsley (NC) – 31 wins
The Whirlies have been on a run in recent memory thanks in large to excellent quarterback play. Two years ago they went 16-0 with former five-star and current Tennessee quarterback Faizon Brandon leading the way. Brandon missed most of the season last year with a hand injury, but Grimsley didn’t miss a beat under freshman quarterback Brody Lowe, who filled in perfectly, keeping the winning streak and another run to a state championship alive.
T10. Carthage (TX) – 31 wins
Owning the longest winning streak in Texas is no small feat and that current honor belongs to the Bulldogs. A three-point loss to Gilmer at the end of the 2023 season is all that’s keeping that streak from being well over the 50-game mark as that was their only loss that season and they went unbeaten the year before.
