Before that, the schedule takes them elsewhere entirely. India travels to Zimbabwe for three T20Is in the last week of July, then to Sri Lanka for two World Test Championship matches in August, meaning a gap of more than two months without 50-over cricket.
The West Indies series also opens a crucial stretch. India plays 11 ODIs across 2026, with the home fixtures against West Indies and Sri Lanka bookending a tour of New Zealand that offers the closest thing to World Cup conditions.
