What's next for the Washington Commanders?

That’s a wrap!
Another Washington Commanders offseason program is now completed. Next up, 2026 training camp. Interestingly, I don’t know why, but the Commanders have yet to set their official training camp dates. It’s always in the latter part of July, but you would think they would have that officially scheduled by now. Not sure why this is the case.
But we do know the Commanders will be at their Ashburn facility for the 2026 training camp. If not, that would certainly have already been released, given the considerable foresight and planning required to secure another facility for a training camp in July.
Looking ahead, we know the Commanders have scheduled three preseason games. The first contest will see Washington host the Miami Dolphins at Northwest Stadium on August 14, a Friday night contest. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
Eight days later, Saturday, August 22, the Commanders will be in Detroit to face the Lions on Ford Field. Strangely, this game is currently listed with a 12 p.m. Eastern kickoff. NFL regular season games on Sundays include starts at 1:00 p.m., 4:05 p.m., 4:25 p.m. and 8:20 p.m. The Lions scheduling this game for a Noon kickoff in the preseason does raise eyebrows.

Finally, the Commanders’ third and final preseason clash will take place in Baltimore at M&T Bank Stadium. This game will take place on the following Friday evening, August 28. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
This preseason promises to be one of much anticipation, as the Commanders will kick off the season against their toughest two divisional opponents in the NFC East. Remember, in the opener on September 13, Washington will go to Philadelphia to challenge the Eagles, who have won the NFC East the last two seasons. That game is scheduled for 4:25 PM. In Week 2, Washington will have another 4:25 p.m. kickoff on the road, this one in Dallas against the Cowboys. What a first two weeks, huh?
No wonder Dan Quinn was already expressing more urgency as he led the Commanders through the OTAs and mandatory minicamp.
