The Minnesota Vikings quarterback competition is heating up now that training camp is here, and no one is backing down on social media from defending who they think should win the job. Through it all, the coaching staff has remained steadfast in their execution of this quarterback competition, while some on the outside consider it already Kyler Murray’s job to lose.
While no starter is close to being named, it does allow time for more folks to add their thoughts. The latest comments come from franchise legend Adrian Peterson. He spoke recently with Kyle Odegard of Rotogrinders and shed some light on his thoughts on one half of the battle.
On the topic of McCarthy’s decision-making, he offered up his thoughts, saying, “I feel like he has the potential to be an outstanding quarterback, but some of his decision-making, from my own perspective, I’m just like, ‘Ah, come on now,’. There are certain things you can’t do, and certain things you need to do. Me watching the Vikings last year, there were times when I was like, ‘Come on. Come on. You’re better than that.’”
Peterson’s thoughts echo much of what the Vikings fanbase had been saying throughout much of the 2025 season. If McCarthy is going to win the job, then he needs to sharpen up this area of his game.
