The Seattle Seahawks are going through training camp with some fairly defined roles at cornerback. Devon Witherspoon and Josh Jobe are the boundary starters. When healthy, safety Nick Emmanwori plays a hybrid-linebacker role as Mike Macdonald’s versatile nickel.
Nehemiah Pritchett is currently favored to be the go-to reserve backup behind Witherspoon and Jobe. A slew of cornerbacks, including three draft picks, are competing for roster spots behind the aforementioned players. One veteran who is making a positive impression at training camp is cornerback Noah Igbinoghene.
The Seahawks’ coaching staff has expressed excitement over how Igbinoghene is performing. Tuesday’s training camp practice was another positive showing for the former Auburn standout. Igbinoghene continues stacking days in his attempt to make the 53-man roster.
Even in his seventh NFL season, Noah Igbinoghene remains relatively young at the cornerback position.

Igbinoghene originally entered the NFL as a first-round pick of the Miami Dolphins during the 2020 NFL draft. At 20 years old, he was the youngest rookie in his draft class, and his first offseason was heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Igbinoghene struggled to acclimate and eventually washed out of Miami.
Igbinoghene is obviously a naturally talented player, proven by his first-round status. He was a young cornerback impacted by occurrences outside of his control. It’s possible that Igbinoghene is simply a late bloomer. The Seahawks may be benefiting from his ascension.
