The Georgia Bulldogs and manager Wes Johnson have had a busy offseason after winning the SEC Tournament and the SEC regular season. The Bulldogs are reloading via the transfer portal after making a College World Series run, where Georgia fell to the eventual national champion Oklahoma Sooners.
Georgia is bringing in over 15 transfers including several all-conference players like Gonzaga’s Mikey Bell and Indiana’s Jake Hanley. Georgia’s huge transfer haul is necessary after the Bulldogs had 13 players selected in the 2026 MLB Draft, which was the most of any college baseball program. Several Georgia players, including a couple of transfers, face decisions following the draft.
The Bulldogs have lost a few contributors from the 2026 team to the transfer portal, but no major players left. 2025 MLB Draft picks Dylan Wood and Ty Peeples both entered the transfer portal after making a modest contribution with Georgia in 2026. Wood pitched in just 4.2 innings while Peeples primarily served as a pitch runner in 32 appearances. Veteran pitcher Jordan Stephens departed for South Carolina after throwing 18.1 innings.
64Analytics ranks Georgia baseball’s transfer class among the best in the country. The NCAA baseball transfer portal closed on June 30. Players can commit after entering the portal, but Georgia players are no longer enter the portal after the June 30 deadline.
Georgia is certainly adding more talent than it is losing from the transfer portal, but the Bulldogs lost a ton of talent to the draft.
