Trackhouse Racing Is Taking Its Biggest Off-Track Step Yet

Justin Marks has spent the last several years transforming Trackhouse Entertainment Group into one of NASCAR’s fastest-growing organizations. Now, that vision appears to be expanding again, this time with plans for what could become one of the company’s biggest investments away from the race track.

Since purchasing Chip Ganassi Racing’s NASCAR operation ahead of the 2022 season, Marks has steadily expanded the company beyond a traditional Cup Series team. Trackhouse has launched the international Project91 program, entered MotoGP ownership, created a music label, and continued investing in its NASCAR operation.

Now, another major project appears to be taking shape.

According to public records first reported by the Charlotte Business Journal, Trackhouse Entertainment Group is planning a new race team facility in Kannapolis, North Carolina. The Kannapolis City Council recently approved an annexation request covering roughly 20 acres along Davidson Highway, representing one of the first formal steps toward development.

While no construction timeline has been announced, the proposal signals Trackhouse’s intention to continue investing in its long-term infrastructure.

The proposed campus would support multiple racing operations

City records indicate the proposed facility would support research and development, maintenance, and training operations.

Located in the heart of North Carolina’s motorsports corridor, the campus would place Trackhouse alongside many of NASCAR’s leading organizations that operate engineering, fabrication, and competition facilities throughout the region.

For modern Cup Series organizations, dedicated technical campuses are about far more than office space. They provide room for engineering, research, maintenance, fabrication, and long-term competitive development, all of which have become increasingly important as NASCAR teams continue investing in technology and infrastructure.

According to the Charlotte Business Journal, the annexation approval clears an early hurdle before future zoning, planning, permitting, and eventual construction can move forward.

No construction schedule or employment projections have been publicly released, and Trackhouse has not announced when work could begin.

Another sign of Justin Marks’ long-term vision

While the proposal remains in its early stages, the annexation approval represents an important milestone for a company that has expanded rapidly since entering the Cup Series in 2022.

The project also reflects Marks’ long-term approach to building Trackhouse. Rather than focusing solely on adding cars or drivers, the organization continues investing in the infrastructure needed to support future growth.

Four years ago, Trackhouse was NASCAR’s newest Cup Series organization. Today it fields multiple Cup Series entries, owns a MotoGP operation, and now appears poised to expand its physical footprint as well.

If the Kannapolis project ultimately moves forward, it will become another visible sign that Marks is building Trackhouse not just for the next season, but for the next decade.
