Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward could be one of the NFL’s biggest breakout candidates in 2026 thanks to an improved supporting cast and the arrival of one of the league’s most respected quarterback developers.
After an up-and-down rookie season as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Ward enters his second year with renewed optimism under offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, whose track record with quarterbacks has generated excitement throughout the organization.
Daboll has built a reputation as one of the NFL’s premier offensive minds. He played a pivotal role in Josh Allen’s rise from raw prospect to MVP candidate with the Buffalo Bills and later helped Daniel Jones produce the best season of his career with the New York Giants. His quarterback-friendly system emphasizes quick decisions, defined reads and maximizing each passer’s unique strengths.
The Titans believe Ward is the next quarterback who can benefit from Daboll’s coaching.

Adding to the optimism is Tennessee’s investment in offensive playmakers. The Titans selected wide receiver Carnell Tate with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, giving Ward a dynamic young target capable of stretching defenses and making contested catches. The team also signed veteran receiver Wan’Dale Robinson in free agency, adding another explosive weapon who excels at creating separation and generating yards after the catch.
Those additions significantly upgrade a receiving corps that struggled to consistently produce explosive plays during Ward’s rookie campaign.
With more reliable targets and an offensive system designed to simplify reads while creating favorable matchups, Ward should have far more opportunities to attack defenses through the air.
The improvements around him could also help balance Tennessee’s offense, forcing defenses to respect both the passing and running games instead of focusing solely on stopping the quarterback.
Ward possesses the arm talent, athleticism and leadership traits that made him the top overall selection, and another offseason of development should only improve his command of the offense.
If Daboll can unlock Ward’s full potential while the Titans’ new weapons make an immediate impact, Tennessee’s young signal-caller could take one of the biggest leaps in the NFL this season.
A Pro Bowl-caliber campaign is no longer viewed as an unrealistic expectation but as a realistic possibility for a quarterback entering a much more favorable situation in Year 2.
