Three former Jax State Gamecocks taken on second day of 2026 MLB Draft

Three former Jacksonville State Gamecocks were selected on the second day of the 2026 MLB Draft on Sunday.

Left-handed pitcher Beau Bryans was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the seventh round with the 208th overall pick. Bryans spent one season at Jax State, posting a 7-1 record with a 3.66 ERA in 15 starts. He struck out 78 batters in 66⅓ innings.

Shortstop Caleb Johnson was chosen by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 13th round with the 403rd overall pick. The switch-hitter enjoyed his best season at Jax State as a senior, batting .309 with 10 home runs, 21 doubles and two triples. He also scored 59 runs, drove in 55 and stole 23 bases.

Brady Thomas was selected by the Houston Astros in the 14th round with the 421st overall pick. Although MLB.com listed Thomas as a pitcher, he also played first base for the Gamecocks.

Thomas pitched 14⅓ innings this past season, compiling a 2-0 record with a 7.53 ERA and 18 strikeouts. At the plate, he batted .329 with 11 home runs, 13 doubles and four triples while scoring 46 runs and driving in 43.
