The MLB trade deadline has officially passed, with teams making their final touches to the rosters for the rest of the year.

This year, only a few teams are definitely out of the postseason hunt, which created an air of mystery surrounding what trades will look like. That led to an interesting deadline where some teams simultaneously bought and sold, while other teams found it harder to make deals.

The biggest name available was Tarik Skubal, the two-time reigning AL Cy Young winner, and it was the Dodgers who landed the big fish. However, other notable names were also on the move and could find themselves in some big moments down the stretch, including new Red Sox catcher Adley Rutschman.

The Sporting News tracked all news and rumors from the 2026 MLB trade deadline. Follow along for full updates.

MLB trade deadline tracker 2026: Live news, updates and rumors

Padres land Casey Mize

Mize is having a strong year in his final season before free agency, and the Padres needed to add starting pitching depth. Mize becomes the second Padres addition to their rotation alongside Robbie Ray.

Marlins, Rockies make trade

The Marlins will get reliever Victor Vodnik from the Rockies for Connor Norby and Aiden May in a minor deal.

Nate Lowe goes from Reds to Guardians

Lowe’s been a solid bat for the Reds this year, so the Guardians swoop in to add him to their lineup. He joins Jo Adell as offensive upgrades in Cleveland.

Cardinals send Lars Nootbaar to the Diamondbacks

Nootbaar is a versatile outfielder who could use a change of scenery, and he will get that with the Diamondbacks. Arizona adds to its outfield as the team looks to make a playoff push.

Twins land Blue Jays RP Jeff Hoffman

Hoffman has had a roller coaster last few years in Toronto, which includes the unceremonious moment in the World Series. However, he’s a strong back-end  reliever who will make the Twins bullpen better.

Guardians trade for Foster Griffin

Griffin returned to the majors after three years in Japan, and he had a breakout season for the Nationals. Washington sells high to Cleveland, who now add another quality arm to their rotation.

Red Sox send Marcelo Mayer to Giants for Erik Miller

Mayer is a former top pick who could never stay healthy, while Miller is a lefty reliever in the middle of a strong season. Both teams continue to reshape their rosters.

Brewers acquire Antonio Senzatela from Rockies

Senzatela is a former starter who found a home as a reliever, and he should get a boost by going to Milwaukee. The Brewers continue to add to their pitching staff.

Yankees trading for Giants OF Heliot Ramos

Ramos is an outfielder who gives the Yankees necessary power from as a righty outfielder, which has been tough to come by. The return is Henry Lalane and Kaedan Kent, the latter is the son of Giants legend Jeff Kent.

White Sox get Joey Bart

The Braves don’t have much use for Bart as a backup catcher, so they send him to Chicago where he will get playing time. Bart should immediately get some opportunities in a thin catching room.

Orioles send Tyler Wells to Rays

Baltimore’s mini sell-off continues as right-handed reliever goes to Tampa Bay. Wells has produced ERAs under 3.00 in each of the last two seasons.

Cubs acquire Clay Holmes, Tyrone Taylor

The Mets get top infield prospect Jefferson Rojas for Holmes and Taylor, as the Cubs continue to add to their pitching staff. Holmes should fit in nicely with the Cubs team defense, while Rojas is one of the best prospects on the move this deadline.

Blue Jays trade Daulton Varsho to Astros for Spencer Arrighetti

The deal appears to be one-for-one, with the rental outfielder heading to Houston for the starting pitcher. Varsho is a strong fielder who hasn’t hit much this year.

Cubs secure reliever Ryan Zeferjahn from Angels

The Chicago Cubs are set to land right-handed reliever Ryan Zeferjahn from the Los Angeles Angels, per Passan. The 28-year-old has a 4-3 record, with a 3.66 ERA and 75 strikeouts.

Brewers acquire Dustin May from St. Louis

Widely regarded as having one of the best pitching labs across the MLB, the Milwaukee Brewers are trading for Dustin May and left-handed reliever Jo Jo Romero from their NL Central rival St. Louis Cardinals.

Cubs trade for Marlins’ LHP Braxton Garrett

The Cubs landed left-handed pitcher Braxton Garrett from the Miami Marlins. In return, they send Miami first baseman Jonathon Long (No. 10 prospect) and pitcher Jace Beck (No. 28 prospect), per Ken Rosenthal.

Pirates land Luke Weaver from Mets

In a trade deadline that has featured the Mets shopping many of their pitchers, reliever/closer Luke Weaver is on the move to Pittsburgh, per Jorge Castillo. The Pirates get their much-needed closer, as the team is still hanging onto their spot in the NL Wild Card chase. Pittsburgh is sending shortstop Sammy Stafura to New York, who was the Pirates’ No. 9 prospect.

Red Sox secure Adley Rutschman in big move

The star catcher stays in the AL East but now heads to Boston, who have him for the next 1.5 years. Rutschman has dealt with injuries, but when healthy is a top-tier catcher that will improve the Red Sox offense significantly. The Orioles will receive a four-player package that includes three of the five best Red Sox prospects. The Red Sox will also receive catcher Jake Rogers, per Tyler Milliken.

Royals send Kris Bubic to Dodgers

Bubic is a talented lefty who has major injury issues, but the Dodgers will take the chance that he can be healthy. Kansas City gets back pitcher Carlos Duran to complete the deal.

Rays land Marlins C Liam Hicks

Hicks is in the midst of a breakout season for the Marlins, who now sell high on the catcher/first baseman. Hicks will give the Rays more offense to go on with their impressive pitching staff. In return, the Marlins get IF Brayden Taylor, IF Adrian Santana and P Jacob Kisting.

Giants send Robbie Ray to Padres

The Padres needed starting pitching, and Ray was one of the better rentals on the market. He stays in division and heads south to San Diego. The Giants will get back pitcher Miguel Mendez and IF Joniel Hernandez.

Rangers send Josh Smith to Blue Jays

The Rangers will get lefty Adam Macko back to complete the deal. Smith is a utility man who can play all over the field, and he now heads to Toronto. The Blue Jays continue to be busy despite sitting well below-.500.

Brenton Doyle goes to White Sox

The Rockies send the outfielder to Chicago, as Doyle will get opportunities for the AL Central leaders. Doyle is a slick fielder who has been pretty inconsistent offensively in his career. Colorado gets P Mason Adams and SS Carlos Vielma back.

Red Sox trade for Adley Rutschman in medical review stage

Olney reports that the prospects have been agreed to, and it’s up to Boston to say yes or no. If it happens, the Red Sox will add a big-name catcher to their lineup.

Orioles send Taylor Ward to Seattle

Ward is a free agent after the season, so the Mariners will add him to their outfield for the next few months. Ward gives them a patient hitter who should help the team across the board. Baltimore gets prospects Alex Hoppe, Harrison Kreiling and Brock Moore in the package.

Guardians add Jo Adell

Cleveland will add to its offense by trading for Adell, a right-handed power hitter who is at his best against lefty pitchers. The Guardians always seem to need more power, and this should help. In return, the Angels get back catcher Jacob Cozart.

Dodgers, Mets make minor deal

Los Angeles is getting catcher Ben Rortvedt from the Mets for pitcher Chayce McDermott, who was recently DFA’d. The Dodgers needed catching depth with Will Smith injured, and Rortvedt was on the team for much of last year.

Braves get Brent Suter from Angels

The Angels are sending Nacho Alvarez Jr. to the Angels for the lefty. Suter is a reliever who adds depth to Atlanta’s bullpen without giving up much in return.

Rangers open to trading anyone on roster

Sherman reports that no one on the Rangers’ roster is off limits as Texas appears ready to potentially sell. Some of the bigger names on the team that could be moved are Nathan Eovaldi, Jacob deGrom, Corey Seager and MacKenzie Gore.

Phillies add to bullpen with Brooks Raley deal

After acquiring Luis Arraez and Caleb Kilian from the Giants, the Phillies are keeping their foot on the gas and acquiring reliever Brooks Raley from the Mets. This is New York’s third reliever deal in the last five days. In the Mets are getting SP Luke Gabrysh and OF John Spikerman.

Phillies bolster lineup with deal for Luis Arraez

The Phillies are finalizing a deal to acquire second baseman Luis Arraez and reliever Caleb Kilian from the Giants, landing one of baseball’s top contact hitters before he hits free agency in the winter. The Giants are receiving prospects Ramon Marquez (Phillies’ No. 4 prospect) and Marty Gair in the deal.

Blue Jays land controllable arm in Jose Soriano

Despite selling Kevin Gausman on Sunday, but the Blue Jays are gearing up to contend in the short-term by acquiring starter Jose Soriano from the Angels for prospects Arjun Nimmala, Eddie Micheletti and Angel Rivero. Soriano has enjoyed a breakout season for the Angels and is under contract through 2028, while Nimmala ranks as MLB Pipeline’s No. 43 prospect.

White Sox add to bullpen with Huascar Brazoban

After trading Seranthony Dominguez in the Luis Castillo deal, the White Sox have acquired reliever Huascar Brazoban from the Mets for minor league pitchers Gabe Davis and Zach Franklin. Brazoban is 36 but has come into his own with the Mets, posting a 2.61 ERA and 1.01 WHIP this season.

Giants send Tyler Mahle to Braves

The Giants are trading starter Tyler Mahle to the Braves for pitching prospect Anthony Molina. Health has been the biggest impediment for Mahle in his career, but he has  a 3.79 ERA over seven starts since returning from the IL and rebuilt his trade value after an ugly start.

Cubs land Kevin Gausman in 3-player deal

Blue Jays starter Kevin Gausman is on the move to the north side of Chicago in a deal that sends prospects Brett Bateman and Ty Southisene to Toronto. Gausman has had an uncharacteristic year, but he’s as durable as they come, has World Series experience and carries a 3.51 FIP this season. Gausman will be a free agent after the season.

Astros asked Marlins about Kyle Stowers

With the Marlins struggling, they seem to be exploring possible trade options for their young hitters. The Astros are now in first place but need outfield help badly, making this a possible fit.

Yankees trading for Nationals IF Luis Garcia Jr.

The Yankees offense has struggled mightily without Aaron Judge, so they make a move for a slugging first baseman. The Nationals will get Jack Cebert, Ben Grable, Yovanny Cruz and Jake Bird back in return.

Angels asking for Red Sox top prospect in Zach Neto deal

The Angels don’t have to trade Neto, but if they do they would like a huge return. Per Healey, Los Angeles is asking for Franklin Arias, a shortstop prospect widely considered to be one of the best prospects in the league.

Blue Jays acquiring Jameson Taillon

The Cubs just DFA’d Taillon, but Chicago finds a trade partner with Toronto before Taillon became a free agent. Taillon has struggled this year and will just be rotation depth for an underwhelming Blue Jays team.

Mets sending Freddy Peralta to Rays

Peralta’s underwhelming Mets tenure comes to a close with New York trading him to the Rays, who will hope to get a better version of the starter down the stretch. Tampa Bay is sending New York prospects Aidan Smith, Gary Gill Hill and Emilien Pitre to acquire Peralta.

Rangers could either buy or sell ahead of deadline

Texas has hovered around .500 for the season, which has been fine because of the weak AL West and AL Wild Card picture in general. However, the Rangers could instead sell if they don’t feel great about their playoff chances, with Jacob deGrom and Corey Seager two names to watch.

Dodgers land Skubal from Tigers

The biggest fish of the trade deadline heads to Los Angeles for prospects Zyhir Hope, River Ryan and Brady Smith. Skubal becomes the latest star to join the Dodgers chase for a three-peat, while the Tigers get some value back instead of losing him for nothing in the offseason.

Reds listening on Elly De La Cruz

McCaffrey reports that the Reds need to be blown away to deal De LA Cruz, but it’s notable that the team hasn’t turned away any calls. The Red Sox are one team that has at least checked in on the star shortstop.

White Sox trade for Mariners SP Luis Castillo

Seattle gets Seranthony Dominguez, Nolan Jones and prospect Boston Smith for Castillo, who has struggled this season. However, Castillo gives Chicago much-needed starting pitching depth for the playoff push.

Royals send Lane Thomas, Bailey Falter to Braves

Thomas is a quality right-handed bat who will get playing time in Atlanta, while Falter is a struggling left-handed arm. In return, Kansas City is getting pitching prospects Carter Holton and Lucas Braun from the Braves.

Mariners listening on Randy Arozarena, George Kirby and Emerson Hancock

Seattle’s disappointing season has the team exploring all options, including potentially trading Arozarena, who is an impending free agent. Kirby and Hancock, meanwhile, are under control but are part of a Mariners’ strong starting pitching unit, so the team could deal from the surplus of arms.

Pirates get Camilo Doval from Yankees

Doval never found his footing in New York, so the Yankees send him to Pittsburgh for prospects Omar Alfonzo and Luis Cruz. The Pirates will hope Doval can help solve their bullpen issues down the stretch.

Red Sox willing to trade Jarren Duran

The Red Sox are willing to trade OF Jarren Duran, McWilliams reports, amid a monumentally difficult season for the former top prospect. Duran is batting just .195 and has been in the headlines this season for yelling at teammate Willson Contreras and flipping the middle finger to a fan.

Brewers willing to cover Tarik Skubal’s salary

The Brewers would be willing to pay the remainder of Tarik Skubal’s $32 million salary, which could make the path to a trade easier. According to a separate report, top prospect Jesus Made isn’t available in Skubal talks.

Freddy Peralta scratched from start

The Mets have scratched Freddy Peralta from his scheduled start on Friday as trade talks pick up. Peralta has struggled mightily this season but finished fourth in NL Cy Young voting with the Brewers last season.

Yankees talking to Rockies about Hunter Goodman

The Yankees and other teams are talking to the Rockies about a potential Hunter Goodman trade, Heyman reports, but the chances of a Goodman deal are still “less than 50-50.”

Tigers scratch Casey Mize from start

The Tigers have scratched Casey Mize from tonight’s start against the Athletics, with Chris McCoskey reporting the move is a precaution ahead of the trade deadline. No deal appears to be in place, but Mize is a likely trade candidate before Monday as the Tigers reinforce the expectation that they will sell.

Twins land reliever A.J. Minter from Mets

The Mets are sending left-handed reliever A.J. Minter to the Twins for infield prospects Billy Amick and Bruin Agbayani. Minter has an injury history, but he’s carrying a 2.35 ERA across 23 appearances this season and has a 2.76 ERA dating back to 2020.

Executives would be ‘very surprised’ if Skubal isn’t dealt

ESPN’s Jeff Passan says MLB executives would be “very surprised” if Tarik Skubal isn’t traded by the Tigers, adding that Detroit would prefer to have a deal done by Monday morning to avoid any hang-ups with players’ medicals.

Mets listening to offers on almost entire roster

Castillo names Juan Soto, Carson Benge, AJ Ewing, Nolan McLean, Christian Scott and Francisco Lindor as players the Mets will definitely not trade. Otherwise, New York appears open for business this trade deadline.

Blue Jays, Phillies could be trade partners

With the Phillies looking to buy and the Blue Jays falling further out of contention, these teams could be a match. Among the Toronto players that Philadelphia could target are Daulton Varsho, Jeff Hoffman or George Springer.

Hunter Greene drawing significant trade interest

The Reds ace may be available if a team can entice Cincinnati with a strong enough package. Greene is under team control for the next 3.5 seasons, and despite injury concerns, remains one of the more talented pitchers in the league.

Rays, Red Sox, Yankees interested in Hunter Goodman

The three AL East rivals all need catching help and could duke it out for the Rockies catcher. However, there is no guarantee that Colorado trades Goodman, as the asking price is reportedly a multi-player package that includes a top-tier prospect.

Phillies, Angels have discussed Zach Neto

If the Angels decide to put Neto on the market, he could be one of the more sought-after players. The Phillies need offensive help, but it’s a question of whether they could out-bid other teams for the Los Angeles shortstop.

Cubs among teams interested in Skubal

The Cubs have dealt with a ton of injury issues this year, so it makes sense that they would at least explore the cost of acquiring Skubal. However, they will have competition from several teams across the majors and must put together a strong package.

Tigers expected to trade Tarik Skubal

The Tigers’ brutal loss on Wednesday appears to be the final straw, as Detroit is more likely than not going to sell their ace ahead of the deadline. Skubal would then become the best player on the market this Summer.

Yankees checked in on Adley Rutschman

As the Yankees need catching help, they may look to their division rival Orioles. Baltimore is still in the playoff hunt, but since Rutschman is a free agent after next season, they could look to move him now.

Rangers get Logan O’Hoppe, Chase Silseth from Angels

Texas is sending Los Angeles minor leaguer Angel Arredondo to complete the deal. O’Hoppe has had a brutal season, but Silseth is a quality reliever who should find a role in the back of the Rangers’ bullpen.

Red Sox acquire Curtis Mead from Nationals for Connelly Early

It’s a one-for-one deal with Boston acquiring offensive help in exchange for the young starter. Both teams in this deal trade a strength for a weakness, as the Red Sox needed help on offense and the Nationals needed more pitching depth.
