Taylor Fritz falls to No. 2 Alexander Zverev in Wimbledon quarterfinals

Coco Gauff is now the last American hope at Wimbledon.

Sixth-seeded Taylor Fritz fell to No. 2 seed Alexander Zverev in their men’s quarterfinal match on Wednesday, leaving Gauff as the lone U.S. player remaining in the singles competition.

Battling an apparent knee injury that required a medical timeout, Fritz couldn’t handle the power from the 2026 French Open champion.

Zverev prevailed 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 in under two hours to move on to an unlikely semifinal matchup.

Unseeded Brit Arthur Fery saw his Cinderella upset run continue into the semis with a straight-set victory over ninth-seeded Flavio Cobolli.
